Helena Davis Stoeckley:

Stated to me on the 30th of December 1982 that she was having problems with her husband in reference to the divorce she had filed for. She stated that Ernest told her he had several people in the Walhalla S.C. area that would come to court and say that she was an unfit mother if she went through with the divorce. And that the baby would be taken away from her. She was very up about this and asked me if I would appear in court on Jan. 17th 1983 as a witness to discount this lie.

I told her that if she needed me that I would but not to call me for this unless she just had to. That I could only say that during the time I was in her presence she was very protective and dedicated to her son. She told me that she had been staying away from drugs and alcohol and that she was trying to stay away from people that might discredit her, becose she knew that if Ernest could get any thing on her he would use it, to fight the divorce and custody of the baby.

She stated that the only thing she had to live for now was her son. That she intended to live in Walhalla area until her husband was near parole, and then she was leaving the area for parts unknown so he could not find her. I told her to continue to think along this line and I thought she would come out O.K. I have been to S.C. many times and I never found Helena to be on drugs or any thing else. And seemed to have all her facalities.

The day that I took her home from the hospital with her son she seemed to be in good health and sprits. And made no complaints about being sick. (In fact she was in a joyfull mood) That she had her son back home. I went inside her apartment to help her with articles from the store and the baby stuff. When I entered the apartment I saw a white female who all so had a small baby. Helena introduced her to me as the sister of her husband Ernest. She stated that she and her husban was staying there while Helenas baby was in the hospital.

Helenas sister in law stated futher that they intended to stay with Helena until she and her husband could move to Norfolk VA where he had a job as a welder in the ship yards. They were there on Dec 31st 1982. After that I do not know how long they were there. It is my understanding that the last day anyone had seen Helena was on the 9th of January 1983. And until this day I do not know how long the inlaws were there or when the last time they saw her alive.

For sure if Helena was very sick these inlaws would have known it. Becose they were there after the 31st of January. For a fact. At this time I do not know the name of these people except Ernests sister. Her husband I cannot remember his name
