OCTOBER 28, 2012

I have just learned that FBI SA Butch Madden passed away Thursday after emergency open heart surgery. In Joe McGinniss' e-mail to me he described  Butch's passing as "Boom! Another good guy lost. And he seemed so happy and healthy, so enjoying his retirement, such a nice manner about him, such a keen sense of humor. All, and so much more, lost overnight." Joe's description was right on target.

I had the pleasure of meeting Butch at the recent hearing. Having read many of the reports Madden had written, I felt like I had known him for years. What a gentleman he was. I will always remember when we said goodbye. Butch and his lovely wife were leaving and she was kidding him about buying her lunch.

Please keep the Madden family in your thoughts and prayers.

On another note there is article written by Margo Howard about the hearing. Howard was at the recent hearing and followed Errol Morris around like a lost puppy. In her article she had no kind words for anyone except Kathryn MacDonald. She described Kathryn as “who looks quite like Leslie Stahl.” OMG! How insulting to Leslie Stahl. Stahl has a life, Kathryn MacDonald does not.

Howard described Judge Fox as
"The elfin Judge Fox looked like an Olson twin if she had a white mustache. Whenever he spoke (which was seldom) it was in a quiet voice, even with a microphone. He never cut off meandering lines of questioning, but was efficient when it came to watching the clock. He announced, with precision, all recesses and lunch breaks." Goes to show she is not familiar with how hearings are conducted and that few objections are lodged. I was in that courtroom, and Judge Fox spoke when it was necessary.

Howard described Bob Stevenson as,
"the late Collette MacDonald's purported black sheep brother. He looks like an angry biker with his white beard and what's left of his hair pulled into a little curly knot resembling the tail of a pig. He doesn't seem happy to be in court..." Hell, she can't even spell Colette's name correct.

She belittled James Blackburn. Guess she doesn't know about Kathryn's brushes with the law. Her shoplifting conviction, her DUI's, being sued for not paying her bills and how she acted in court recently, crying, shaking, and claiming to be an upstanding citizen.

And her description of Joe McGinniss as
"a portly older man with Carl Sandburg hair..." Guess she hasn't looked in the mirror at her own refection. She herself was portly and unkempt, whereas McGinniss was clean and neatly dressed. The mere site of her made me want to puke.

Joe also informed me The Last Word on Jeffrey MacDonald will go on sale in December, early or late not yet decided.
