Mr. Kornstein: Move to strike.
The Court: All right, the answer is stricken.
The question is have you confirmed the accuracy of this indented material on Pages 618 and 619 as against what is stated on the tapes.
The Witness: I don't think so, no.
By Mr. Kornstein:
Q Well, you do recall putting something in the tapes about the Baxter interview, don't you?
Q In fact, it was on the last tape, wasn't it?
A I have no recall of that.
Q Well, do you remember in the tape telling Mr. McGinniss that Mr. Segal told you that Baxter was A very eminent man in the polygraph field?
A I don't recall that at this time, no.
Q You don't recall that.
Wasn't the reason for your taking A second polygraph test because you weren't satisfied with the result of the first one with John Reed?
A Yes, that's true.
Q Now, do you recall saying this in the tape to Mr. McGinniss, that "Baxter was bigger in his field than Reed and that I would find him A lot more congenial and
A. You read A lot more than that, Mr. Kornstein.
Q All right. And the book; you hadn't written any first chapter of A book in 1971, had you?
A There had been first chapters written.
Q When did you write them? Did you write it?
Q You say it was your book, first chapter of your book.
A That's A figure of speech. A book about the case.
Q And who was the author going to be of that book?
A There were several who were dealing with me at about that time.
Q Well, who had written the first chapter or chapters?
A Well, what I know now and what I knew then are very different things. I had been shown treatments, what I would now call A treatment. And my reference there, I believe, is to A treatment that I was assuming was like an opening chapter of A book.
Q And who showed that to you?
A I'm not sure. It was one of the several that we were dealing with at the time.
Q Can you give us one name?
A Louis Ruckhauser [phonetic].
Q Was he the one who wrote it or you don't know?
A I can't recall. Sam Summerland is another name.
