E-mail from "Cynthia" re: Jeffrey MacDonald: November 21, 2004
Hi Christina, Thank you for the nice E-mail and for the wonderful website you have put together.
I guess it was around 1992 I became fascinated with the MacDonald case. I had gotten a lot of material from my mother who had kept news paper clippings and articles regarding the MacDonald murders. I decided one day I would find the address of Jeffrey MacDonald and write him a letter. I wrote Jeff, and he sent me several photos of himself, and some articles on his case from different magazines. I sent him some pictures of me and we wrote for several years exchanging Birthday and holiday cards. Then, One day out of the blue, I received a telephone call from him. There was something chilling about that conversation, and to this day I still think about it.....In the phone call he told me that he was going to be exonerated soon, and that he and I should go off to some private Island and live there together. I thought that to be rather odd, and forward. He knew I was married, and I never indicated to him I was unhappy in my marriage or looking for a divorce. It was a short time after that phone call I received a letter requesting money to have his case reopened by means of DNA. I have always been a person with very good intuition Christina, and something inside told me not to send money or write to him again I have had no contact with him at all after that.
I had on Larry King a few months back, and I saw that he had gotten married. It was weird because when I use to keep my hair blond, this woman he married and I look almost just alike. I live about 2 hours from Fayetteville and stopped in front of the Apartments where the MacDonald's use to live. I felt like that the spirits of Colette, and the children were still somehow locked inside that tragic night and there was such overwhelming sadness still attached there.
What bothers me the most about this case, is that my sister and her husband lived in base housing at Ft Bragg many years ago. My sister told that the walls in that housing area are paper thin. Its hard for me to believe that the Warrant Officer, wife, and kids did not hear more that night. There are so many unanswered questions about this case that will continue to haunt me and so many others for the rest of my life.
Christina, I am so glad you have put this website together and spent so much of your time valuable time researching the case. I found your site to be so informative and very helpful. I hope you keep up the good work, and keep adding new information on this case as it becomes available to you.
Best wishes to you and your family and I hope to hear from you soon,
Sincerely,
Cynthia
