FEBRUARY 20, 2009
The Stevenson family and I thank all of you who have contacted us regarding this new appeal offering your support.
Of course we must wait for the court's decision, but we have our boots on and are ready to fight if need be to overcome yet another hurtle in the fight for justice for the murders of our loved ones. In the meantime, please keep the Stevenson family in your prayers.
A e-mail received yesterday states it so well, "I will never forget the beauty and spirit of Colette, Kimberley and Kristen... I feel that denying the reality of what happened to Colette, Kimberley and Kristen does a enormous disservice to their memory, and if possible, compounds the grievous wrong done to them by MacDonald."
Some ask if the time will ever come when the courts will not accept any new appeals from MacDonald. The answer is not yet, but the options are getting more limited for him. Particularly if the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals denies his application, and that's what this is for, a certificate of appealability.
As to this last appeal, it is 64 pages of redundant junk. However, there is something that stands out like a sore thumb with this new attorney. It is pathetic when a "Highly Praised Attorney" knows so little about the case, that he does not even know the correct date the murders were committed. How can so many mistakes be made in one legal document?
The prize is the last page, (Certificate of Service) where he has certified the names of the government notified. That date states "19th day of February, 2008."
I said it before, and I will repeat, this team is not working with a full deck.
An e-mail from Bob Stevenson
I am, of course; deeply troubled and saddened that once again the spectre of Helena Stoeckley has been raised along with the statements of already discredited Jimmy Britt who claimed he heard statements of Helena during her movement from one place to another even though it has been proven that he was not there and another person had assisted in her transportation.
Of course, another set of attorneys have abandoned his cause realizing that the cause is or should be hopeless..............but alas, another fool rushes in to replace them hoping for his moment of glory and stimulation of his reputation as a defense attorney.........another Judas selling his soul for a few pieces of potential silver.....
May he soon be forgotten along with the string of fallen lawyers who have served MacDonald over the years.
It is also my hope that MacDonald's supposed indigence will be probed so that further appeals at the taxpayers expense for DNA tests etc.. can be curtailed.
I understand that information has surfaced leading to the conclusion that the money from the sale of his now deceased mother's house has been available all along.......
I surely hope the government seeks recompense for the use of the taxpayers money if, as we believe; he has sequestered those funds elsewhere in an effort to deny not only the government, but the needs of his siblings who had a rightful share of the funds as I have heard.
With all, I am sure that this appeal on the basis of constitutional grounds will be refuted by the able efforts of the Justice Department, but hope we are not headed for yet another visit to the Supreme Court of the United States...........where MacDonald apparently is out to set a record for the number of appearances and appeals of his unending attempts to foil justice through unending appeals.
On another note, thank you for you tribute again this year to Colette, Kimberley and Kristen........I was touched to see their pictures and remember them in life.
Your passionate defense of them and their memory is an inspiration to me and we, the remaining Stevenson family will never forget you for one moment of our lives for all that you have done and continue to do.
Thank you for all of us.
With love and sincerity,
Bob and Vivian Stevenson and our children as well.
