JANUARY 6, 2008
2008 is here, and it brings the nearness of the thirty-eight anniversary of the murders of Colette, Kimberley, Kristen and the unborn son. For those of us who believe Jeffrey MacDonald murdered his pregnant wife and two defenseless little girls, we take comfort that justice was served and the fact that he remains in prison. But the fight continues to keep him there for the rest of his life.
Jeffrey MacDonald is what every husband and father should never be. A cheater, a liar, a selfish poor excuse of a man with an inflated feeling of self-worth. A convicted triple murderer of his family. He had plans for his life that did not include his pregnant wife and two little girls. The pursuit of his own happiness and dreams were more important to him. His family had become an albatross. To rid himself of the extra responsibility he killed them and inflicted the boo boos on himself to make it look like he had been attacked and incapacitated by intruders making it impossible to save his wife and children. Ah, but he knows just as I do that the only intruders present in that house was a pregnant Colette and two beautiful little girls, Kimberley and Kristen.
Some say he was a doctor with a caring heart and a gentle hand who went the extra mile to treat his patients. Sadly, it would appear that was not the case when it came to his family.
Colette was a gentle soul, a loving wife who tried desperately to always please her husband. A loving and nurturing mom who loved her children and fought hard to her death trying to protect them.
Serving in their positions they swore to uphold, the investigators worked thousands of hours to solved this case. The prosecutors presented the evidence in a clear and precise way. They have been attacked for years and accused of obstructing justice by withholding evidence from the defense. Through it all, they have kept their focus on the facts and never engaged in the pettiness, fighting the battles in the court room, never wavering from their belief that the evidence showed Jeffrey MacDonald killed his wife and children.
It is a travesty the way MacDonald continues this blatant pretense of being factually innocence.
It has been implied that Colette was not close with her mom and Freddy. That is far from the truth. There was a close bond between them that was never broken and only grew stronger through the years.
There was a time Colette was happy and bubbly and she had many friends. Below is a letter she wrote to her mom and Freddy when she was in college. She was so excited over the weekend she had just had and wanted to share it with them. It also shows that Mildred was constantly sending her things and the appreciation Colette felt.

The next few months will bring about many interesting things. However, Jeffrey MacDonald getting out of prison will not be one of them.
This past year we lost Peter Kearns. He was a very special man to me and the times I spent with Peter and his wonderful wife, Gladys, I will never forget. He loved his family and embraced his friends with all his heart. His warmth, faith, his courage, his compassion, his humility and his good humor always made others enjoy life along with him.
