By Mr. Kornstein:
Q Did you later determine whether those statements were true or false?

A I determined that they were false.

Q And how did you determine that?

A I had some people investigate to see if Dr. MacDonald had gone back to the hospital with a broken arm. A surgeon with a broken arm is very evident --

Mr. Bostwick: Objection, your Honor. I'm going to move to strike the whole answer. It's all hearsay.

The Court: Well, I haven't heard him say what anyone has said to him yet. This is what he's saying to the person he had investigate; is that what you're telling us?

The Witness: That is correct, sir.

The Court: You may tell us that much, but let's stop right there and get finished.

By Mr. Kornstein:
Q Are you aware of any other lies that Jeffrey MacDonald told you?

A Well, the question is he told me so many that it's very hard to recall them all. It's a masterful con job that I got.

Mr. Bostwick: Objection, your Honor. Move to strike the entire answer.

The Court: The latter part will be stricken.
